Analysis of Hello Fashion Magazine







This is a 'HELLO FASHION' magazine dated from April 2017. The model on the front is meeting convention by looking directly into the camera so it creates the effect that the image is almost watching you wherever you move your head. Furthermore the shot type of the woman is medium long shot where you can't fully see her legs or feet and the model is placed directly in the centre frame. You can apply Barthes theory as the colour scheme doesnt meet a cohesive theme like bold and bright or dull but instead uses cool tone colours all varied which indicates a more mature audience would read this e.g. 25+.

The font used is a decretive serif font which you can suggest it represents the genre of the magazine as being predominately aimed towards females. Moreover the masthead is spread across the top looking large and bold saying 'hello fashion' which instantly captures the readers attention and gives them an insight into what the magazine is going to be about- this is very clearly indicated through the use of photography also. There is also a very clear female representation in the magazine cover due to the presentation of an influential female 'Millie Mackintosh' looking into the camera- almost empowering her which is an effective representation of her gender and it also represents the key point of the magazine is going to be about her which is also highlighted in the box below. Also you can infer that her beige dress is almost see through which is an appeal to certain audiences. Furthermore she is clearly shown wearing fashionable clothing which therefore represents the magazine itself.

The contents page is split into 3 neat columns , 27 sections and 5 header titles splitting the magazine up into the different topics. This is useful for the reader as they can easily find the things they just want to read instead of having to look through it all confused- clearly portrayed. Also the minimum font size is an 8 and there are various images portrayed, all studio taken, ranging from clothing items like fashionable handbags and some of the models you'll be able to see throughout. The front cover links to the title page as the female on the front can be seen in the contents keeping to the theme that the main story of the magazine is going to be about her. Moreover the images may vary on the contents but it still represents effectively to the theme overall and the images have page numbers next to them so if the audience is interested in the look of it they can find it easily.

One of the ways the magazine effectively captures the audience is the presentation of the luxury holiday competition on the front cover which is a pull.
