Planning: Photo shoot: Photographs that may be useful

Image
- I took multiple pictures of the same shot and they all came out interesting in their own element.  - They are all close ups - Taken from a low angle to emphasise the shapes of the flame - Taken outside using natural daylight- potentially even the light provided by the fire - I liked the shots were the sunlight is peeking through the trees in a dappled effect- even creating some interesting shapes which I managed to capture - The trees are in the background with the wood fire in the foreground- highlighting the main piece of the photo - No clear rule of odds but rules of thirds can be seen as the fire takes up the bottom 1/3 of the image leaving the top 2/3 with the naturalistic scenery  - Good contrast between bold orange/red fire and the delicate green background scenery. - Close up of leaves in tree- with one specifically in focus - Taken from a low angle with the camera looking up to create an interesting perspective - Dark shadows clear on m...

Theory Research

Image
Theory Research: Structuralism - Levi Strauss - 'Relation between any two units compared in a binary pair' - 'Binary opposites form the basic structure of all human cultures, all human ways of thought and all human signifying systems' - 'In every binary pair, one term is favoured and the other is disfavoured' e.g. the idea of good and evil He examined the relations of mythemes and found it consisted of BINARY OPPOSITIONS He also believed that the human mind thinks fundamentally in these binary oppositions. He also suggested that narratives had to be driven by conflict from contrasting forces. When analysing media language you can apply it by: - What opposites can you see in costume, props, mise-en-scene - Effect of having one show against another - Is one seen as positive and one negative? Is the view challenged?  Examples of Binary opposites: - Boy vs Girl - Peace vs War - Democracy vs Dictatorship - Young vs Old - Protagon...

Planning: Photo shoot: Editing

Image
- Out of my lockdown photo shoot I chose the most effective ones to then proceed and edit. What makes this photo the best is due to the focus of the image being the daisies in the foreground and not the model doing the splits in the background. Its taken from a low angle and its also a long shot as you can see the models whole body. As its taken from ground level you can see details like the individual daisy petals and the stems of those flowers. The white and yellow daisies provide an interesting colour contrast from the vivid green trees in the background and the grass. The outlook is naturalistic and aesthetically pleasing to the viewer. It's also good due to the outdoor setting and having natural lighting. As your eyes scan across you see more and more interesting details, from the green tree skyline and the model itself is doing the splits which is cool to see. However with all these good details I wanted to enhance it even more. - This is the edited version of the o...

Planning: Photo Shoot: Photographs that may be useful

Image
More photos that could be used for my NEA: This is an image of a refreshing summer drink with the background being taken from through a window- it's appropriate due to the lockdown and the good weather we are experiencing momentarily. - The main focus is the drink itself - Naturalistic background - pretty to look at - urban village - daylight - Landscape to fill the image - Follows the rule of thirds - the drink takes up 2/3 of the image of the left hand side - Can loosely apply rule of odds if you focus in on the drink - 3 separate lemon peels - Close up shot of the drink with a slightly faded background to emphasise key part of the photo Edited by: - reducing the brightness - reducing the contrast - adding some warmth  - increasing the colour saturation  - reducing the highlights - reducing the shadows By doing this specific editing I've enhanced the colour of the sky in the background- making it more blue and also highlighted the col...

Planning: Photo shoot: Photographs that may be useful

Image
- Medium Long Shot - image shows the models full body - Her legs split the image in half from top to bottom - Bottom half is filled with daisies- naturalistic and pretty - fills up most of the image - Top half is the action the model is doing (splits) and the trees in the background - Top half is slightly blurred to add detail to the daises in the foreground - Taken from a low angle  - Follows the rule of thirds- model placed directly in the middle spreading out throughout the middle intersection - No clear following of the rule of odds - Taken with natural daylight - Landscape - Portrait shot - Taken with natural daylight lighting - Not as effective as you can see the reflection of me taking the photo - The lines of the window distracts from the model - However the rainbow art painting is a clear representation of the current situation - Model is young and has a happy smile- representing her happiness for the NHS help - Not a clear focus - No cle...

Image
How was the show promoted? - one effective way stranger things was promoted was by its partnership with popular brands. Reebok: worn by Dustin in the show and was an exclusive launch, brand was popular in the 80's which the show is based around appealing to the older audience. Topshop: for the Barb fans of the show the brand refurbished its London Oxford Street Flagship in honour of the character - promoted on Twitter to reach more fans. Spotify: matching users to Stranger Things characters they are similar too and music tastes. Lyft: surprised riders with rigged cars and pranking in collaboration with stranger things - posted on YouTube which is another platform to reach more users. Eggo Waffles: product placement in the show which the main character is obsessed with - naturally viewers would want to try them too since they shared the recipe.
