This is the unedited photo.


I then centred my image by cropping the edges and resizing it.


By pressing Ctrl L, I altered the light levels to add more contrast.


I then added some saturation to enhance the blue mask colour.


I blurred the background so all the focus would be on the model in the mask.


I then added saturation to the mask with the sponge tool.


This is the final edited photo.

Theory Research: Structuralism - Levi Strauss - 'Relation between any two units compared in a binary pair' - 'Binary opposites form the basic structure of all human cultures, all human ways of thought and all human signifying systems' - 'In every binary pair, one term is favoured and the other is disfavoured' e.g. the idea of good and evil He examined the relations of mythemes and found it consisted of BINARY OPPOSITIONS He also believed that the human mind thinks fundamentally in these binary oppositions. He also suggested that narratives had to be driven by conflict from contrasting forces. How was the show promoted? - one effective way stranger things was promoted was by its partnership with popular brands. Reebok: worn by Dustin in the show and was an exclusive launch, brand was popular in the 80's which the show is based around appealing to the older audience. Topshop: for the Barb fans of the show the brand refurbished its London Oxford Street Flagship in honour of the character - promoted on Twitter to reach more fans. Spotify: matching users to Stranger Things characters they are similar too and music tastes. Lyft: surprised riders with rigged cars and pranking in collaboration with stranger things - posted on YouTube which is another platform to reach more users. Eggo Waffles: product placement in the show which the main character is obsessed with - naturally viewers would want to try them too since they shared the recipe.
